Our regular readers will know that here at TSF we just love to bring you the very latest news concerning the growth of the touchscreen phone market because we firmly believe that such an innovation can only become a massive success and will prove to be as much of an integrated part of our lives as, well, the last massive success. TSF also believes that like all innovative technologies, over time retail prices will become lower, leading to increased accessibility, which will ultimately translate into increased sales figures.
Every now and then different establishments confirm TSF’s beliefs by releasing mouth watering statistics about the growth of the industry or sales of handsets (see Samsung & LG posts), and now market researchers DisplaySeacrh have gone and done just that.
DisplaySearch specialise in providing research for display related industries and have been at the forefront of their field for over 10 years now. So it would seem that they are more than qualified to announce their forecast that the touchscreen module market will reach $9 billion by the year 2015, up from $3.6 billion in 2008, with a compound annual growth rate of 14%.

News has reached Touchscreen Fones that both LG and Samsung, irrefutably two major players in the touchscreen phone market, have both reported sales of 20,000,000 touchscreen units each. This staggering figure is due in no small part to the excellent features and functionality of such models as the Samsung Tocco and the LG Arena, both of which are featured here on Touchscreen Fones. As our visitors will know we are keen to establish a welcoming online community here at TSF, as such we have recently implemented some services to help achieve this such as the TSF Forum which is up and running. We can now also announce the implementation of TSF Live Chat, a chatroom where you can communicate in real time with your fellow TSF visitors!
It’s pretty basic and we may well develop it in due course but it works. All you need to do is navigate to the TSF Live Chat page and click on the TSF logo. Once you do this you should see a small window appear which asks you to enter a guest username. After you have done this you should be entered into the chatroom!
As with the forum we really would encourage you to use this facility to communicate with other users in order to establish our online community of touchscreen phone fans!
Happy chatting!

With all the extensive and wonderful yet sometimes confusing array of features and functions that can be found on today’s smartphones, it’s difficult to know what exactly works best. For some of us, certain functions may take precedence or importance over others, it’s all very much a matter of personal opinions and requirements. Some of us for example may be of the opinion that having a QWERTY keyboard is of greater importance than having a touchscreen, whilst some of us may feel that the original numeric keyboard is better still, whilst others may think that voice command is their ideal phone feature.
The common thread that links all of the aforementioned features together is data input methods or interfaces. Your preference of course could depend on many things, such as whether you as a user are predominantly a texter, or a caller or whether you simply don’t have the use of your digits all or most of the time. What is my point? Read on.

Greetings TSF readers.
The Touchscreen Fones forum is now up and running so please take a look. At the moment you can only navigate to the forum by clicking the link in the pages column at the bottom of the right hand side of this page or alternatively you can click here.
This was very tricky to implement so please use the forum for sharing your views and information on anything you like at all so long as it is related to, of course, touchscreen mobile phone technology. If you have any difficulties at all whatsoever using the forum then get in touch via the TSF contact form.
Thanks and happy communicating!

Roaming charges have been the subject of much debate between various legislative bodies for quite some time but Touchscreen Fones are pleased to inform you of Vodafone’s announcement that it is abolishing roaming charges on its Vodafone Passport service in over 35 Europpean countries as well as Australia and New Zealand this summer.
What does this mean exactly?
This means that between the dates of June 1st and August 31st the cost of calling and sending a text or picture message from any of the countries included won’t cost Vodafone customers any more than it would at home because of the abolition of the 75p roaming charge, which was previously what it would hav cost to connect a call to the UK using Vodafone Passport.
